The Salt Mine

The Challenge:

The Salt mine is a small non-profit and religious organization that runs thrift stores that support their charitable efforts that include a food bank. Their old site didn’t have a mechanism for them to collect donations or have people volunteer. They also¬†wanted to be able to record any new donations as they picked them up.

My Solution:

We started with a primary focus of having visitors volunteer or donate. We developed clear calls to action to use in the design and developed them into a visually interesting asset on the page and incorporated it into the header for prominence on every page. I also created a form for the Staff to use while out picking up donations. When the form is submitted it sends a receipt to the donor. A picture of the donated item is also sent to the social media person for the salt mine so they can post the new item to twitter and facebook to generate interest for the thrift store.
